SENIOR PROJECT - THE IDEA
Hands on for the Senior Class at Akhawayn School of Ifrane
Senior project is a required semi-weekly class with one end-of-year grade of pass/fail. This structure is adopted intentionally to refocus students from the external motivation of a short-term grade-driven class to a long-term goal-oriented approach that encourages students to choose projects they find intrinsically motivating. This encourages participants to find satisfaction in a job well done rather than looking to grades as a reward or punishment.

Each project must include research elements and real-world outcomes.

The Senior Project should align with the Vision, Mission and Ethos of Akhawayn School of Ifrane.

Each student must write a 10-page paper about a topic, that occurred during the process and summarize the personal experience of senior project. This paper includes approximately 8 pages of research on the relevant topics in MLA style and approximately 2 pages of the student’s personal experience through the year, including self-reflection on how the project went, what obstacles surfaced, how they responded to adversity, and what they would do differently if the situation arose again.

Students must present their outcomes to the community.

Senior project includes Community Service and volunteer opportunities for the House Competition of Akhawayn School of Ifrane.
