The word project is a multi interpreted term by many people. For some, it would mean incomprehension, unconstructive criticism, detachment, and absolute authority. Others on the other hand relate themselves positively to this word because they find in it cooperation, active listening, compromise, and trust. As a beginner in the senior project theme, I carry with me specific beliefs that I set as expectations to meet in order to succeed in the senior project. I believe that teamwork, mutual consent, patience, and discovery are one of the many building blocks of a senior project. Being the end of year final group work, each individual needs to generate ideas and develop a working plan to take actions in the project. Therefore, the team members need to aim for passion and durability to reach their set up goals for the senior project. One keyword that helps me to search for a practical senior project is community. This reminds me that my team’s project does not revolve around one’s own benefit. It teaches each team member to compromise with others’ decisions and ideas in order to create a project beneficial for the whole community. For instance, charity work is a global example for team building because all individuals unite for one shared purpose and that is to help needy ones. Community then inspires me to select a project that will enable me to share a passion that I have with many people. Individualism is not the core target, rather partnership. Whether the aim is on a microscopic or macroscopic level, grit should be developed to enable sustainability throughout the project. Simon Sinek said that people do not buy what you do, they buy why you do it. Such sentence suggests that a simple definition of the product is less thought provoking than the reasons behind it. When a person acquires their why, there is a greater sense of inspiration which in turn increases the chances of successfully meeting the project goals despite the immensity of challenges that could be presented. When the why of an individual is met, then productivity increases with a great sense of team leadership. The pathway to succeed in that project is carefully paved because all individuals know each of their crucial places in completing the project. Every individual has a role, knows where they are heading, and most importantly is happy, committed, and not forced. Why is the birthplace of vision and purpose. No individual will want to start a project where they find in it no purpose since it will only be ephemeral and sooner or later, the project will fail. Now that I have established my WHY, I can generate many possible ideas for the senior project and one of them is to create an online platform for Moroccan students that want to pursue a higher education outside their country. Why higher education? The answer is that many high schoolers at a certain age start to project themselves away from the school atmosphere and raise questions such as “ what will I do once I get my high school degree? What country will be adaptable and convenient for my college work? “ Which university is appropriate for me ?” With an online created platform, our senior class will share many of the suggestions of why should a student need to pursue a higher education with many suggested universities that could be of an interest to the students. This could be a reasonable project because the senior class is also going through the same process and by sharing our ideas, strategies, and plans to aim for a good university, we would like to also spread the message to other students in Morocco. Why students in Morocco ? Because nationalism speaks out and I want to see students of my country thrive and prove their potential in many universities of the world.
