On Thursday October 19th, four students from the Senior Class 2018 went on a trip to visit the Tarmilat school. A taxi was waiting for us at the AUI main gate at 2 PM. When we arrived to the school we noticed that it was a very small building with a wrought iron door. We hesitated in the beginning as we did not really know what to do, but then we just decided to know and enter the room. When we went in, we were welcomed by a teacher who did not recognize us. We were very impressed by the kindness of the students and teacher. We then introduced ourselves as ASI students and asked if we could interview them. We asked the teacher several questions including what they needed in the school and what are the kids mostly in need of. We then moved on to asking the students several questions to know what we will be working on later on during the year. The most frequent answers were: water, electricity, and heating. We later on looked around the class and noticed that there were broken windows. Kids that were sitting on these broken tables and chairs they didn't have a choice. We were unfortunately not allowed to take pictures of the miserable place the kids were studying in. They were all adorably shy at first, but then the girls and us started taking more comfortably and they were able to open up easier. Although they did not have much, they were still very welcoming. They also didn't ask for much, as they only asked for the necessary that we take for granted on a daily basis. That is why we decided that we need to collect as much money as we can to help the young kids have a safe environment to study in, and give them a little bit of the privileges we get every day.
