Monday the 22nd Majda, Hajar, Ahd, and Elias as a group went to Zaouia village with Elias Dokmak's mother. Seniors were shocked with the infrastructure of the Zaouia Community. It was much more advanced than what they believed it to be. A few of the residents lived in shacks but a majority of them had homes similar to those in Azrou. Students began to tour the area, taking pictures and debating over different possible areas of investing in the Zaouia Community. There was a basketball court and a “Dar El Shabab” or "Children's Center" so there was no need to try an invest in an entertainment center for the kids.
There was only one school in the community that taught from kindergarten to the 6th grade. The school was overall small but had an aesthetic outward appearance. There was an administrators office with enough space for children to play during recess. The Seniors then went to one of the teachers and preceded to ask what the school "needed". The overall answer was that the school needed wood during the winter. There was much difficulty in trying to choose this idea and the students believed that it was not a large enough investment in the Zaouia Community. Students decided to move forward and soon arrived at the in-school-cafeteria. Both the principal and cafeteria manager were "not-in" so the students were not able to determine the exact state of the cafeteria.
They hope to return to the Zaouia community after talking with both Dr. Khaldoun and other AUI Students in order to determine what other possible ways they could invest in Zaouia.
